I had a very old TomTom navigator, the ONE XL, that is no more compatible with new maps and software so it cannot be updated anymore … even though it was always been a paid update and it was neither very cheap! The same happens till now with any navigator you buy integrated with a car: every year you have to pay a subscription to have maps updated.
